We’ve all typed this into a search engine or into Pinterest once or twice: Makeup Dupes … haven’t we? After seeing the same obvious ones over and over, I started thinking about all the new makeup that has been released this year specifically and there are so many new and exciting makeup dupes!
If you’re new to the term “dupe”, it is a term widely used in the beauty community that refers to a product that is less expensive and similar or even identical to the expensive product! Hence my extreme excitement, ha!
What I like most about the following makeup dupes I’ve compiled, is that these aren’t just the same concept of a product, they perform just as good, and, dare I say, some even better than the high-end version! I tend to get giddy over makeup dupes, so let’s get started!
*Listed in no particular order.
Cover FX Custom Cover Drops & Hard Candy Glamoflauge Mix-In Pigment Drops
DETAILS: Cover FX Custom Cover Drops, they are used to create more coverage into your favorite foundation or to mix with a medium like a moisturizer, serum or primer to turn it into a foundation.
IMO (In My Opinion): I prefer the Dupe! I like that it is thinner in consistency than the Cover FX product. I find that one to be too heavy. You can find Hard Candy in Wal-Mart!
Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops & Hard Candy Glamoflauge Liquid Radiant Mix-In Drops
I’m coming at you full force with Hard Candy dupes today – who knew?! I sure didn’t!
DETAILS: Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops are basically an uber pigments liquid highlighter. Again, it can be used to mix into a foundation or even apply it directly to the high points of your face aka highlighting. Both brands have this product in multiple shades.
IMO: Neither is a necessity to me, so I would just go with the Dupe. Again, it is lighter in formulation and less pigmented, so keep that in mind!
Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator – Gilded Honey & Maybelline Expertwear Single Eyeshadow in The Glo Down
DETAILS: Laura Gellar’s Baked Highlighter in Gilded Honey is a “cult classic”.
IMO: I prefer the Dupe! The dupe is actually an eye shadow, but it’s just as pigmented; and at $2.99 you can’t beat it!
Urban Decay Naked Skin Color Correcting Fluid & Hard Candy Sheer Envy Color Correct Cushion Wonder
DETAILS: This Urban Decay product is used for color correcting. There are multiple shades in each of these brands for color correcting different skin issues (under eye circles, redness, sallowness, etc.).
IMO: Again, I prefer the makeup Dupe! The Dupe is more pigmented and a better consistency to cover the problem areas.
Ben Nye Luxury Banana Powder & Makeup Revolution Luxury Banana Powder
DETAILS: Ben Nye’s Banana Powder (made famous by Ms. Kim Kardshian and is now also a “cult classic”) has a yellow tint to it which is used to brighten and set concealer. Particularly good for darker skin tones.
IMO: I, myself, haven’t used the Ben Nye powder, but I have tested out the makeup Dupe. It’s a silky powder, but it doesn’t brighten my type of skin tone. I’ll stick to my Laura Mercier Translucent setting powder – that stuff is bomb!
Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint & Maybelline Vivid Matte Liquid Lip Color
DETAILS: Tarte’s Creamy Matte Lip Paint is a mousse like cream lipstick with a velvet consistency that doesn’t dry down.
IMO: I prefer Tarte’s version! Maybelline’s version is okay for the price tag, but the application isn’t as smooth and doesn’t last as long on the lips.
BeautyBlender Blotterazzi Blotting Sponges & Real Techniques 4 Miracle Blotting Cushions
DETAILS: The Beauty Blender Blotterazzi are reusable blotting sponges use to blot oil throughout the day to touch up your makeup.
IMO: I prefer the Blotterazzi! With that being said, I don’t think this is a must have product, but it does what it says! The Real Techniques dupe is much thinner and is only one sided, but you do get 4 for that low price, so it is worth a try!
Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone & Maybelline Expert Wear Eyeshadow in Pearl
DETAILS: Becca’s Pressed Highlighters are very popular! They come in many different shades.
IMO: I prefer the Dupe! I also like Becca’s version, however I find it a bit too chalky. When I tried the Maybelline in its place, I found that it was the perfect highlighter even though its an eye shadow!
Too Faced Melted Metal Lipstick & Milani Amore Matte Metallic Lip Creme
DETAILS: Too Faced Melted Metal is a creamy lipstick that has a metallic sheen. Keep in mind it doesn’t dry down like a liquid lipstick.
IMO: I prefer the Dupe! Mainly because it dries down and lasts on the lips a long time compared to the high-end version. You can buy Milani at Walgreens and Wal-Mart!
Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette & Makeup Revolution Ultra Eye Contour Light & Shade Palette
DETAILS: The Kat Von D Shade & Light Eye Contour palette is an all matte, neutral eye shadow palette.
IMO: I prefer the makeup Dupe! I’m no eye shadow aficionado, but the only major difference I can tell is the pigmentation is slightly less with the Dupe, which I’m ok with, because you can build it up or use a cream eyeshadow base to help increase the pigmentation! The price difference is huge and if I don’t use eye shadow very often, I would much rather spend $15 instead of $48!
I hope you enjoyed finding out about these new Dupes! If you buy anything from this post, please let us know in the comments! We would love to hear from you!
