Step 1 – Prime
Step 2 – Foundation & Concealer
(1) Apply Maybelline Cushion Liquid Foundation with dampened Real Techniques Sponge; (2) Conceal (& Highlight) by applying Tarte Shape Tape Concealer to the areas pictured below and blend out with same damp sponge; (3) Set concealer with Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder (I apply the powder with the Real Techniques Sponge for flawless application); and (4) Set the rest of the face with CoverGirl OutLast All Day Matte Finishing Powder using a fluffy powder brush.
Step 3 – Bronzing & Highlighting
Instead of contouring, I used the New Benefit Hoola Lite Bronzer (absolutely perfect for lighter/pale skin tones) & Too Faced Sweet Tea Bronzer to give the face dimension by applying it with a loose, bristle brush for a softer look. For Highlighter, I used Maybelline Single Eyeshadow in The Glo Down with a fan brush from Ecotools. (I know I talk about this all the time, but it is THAT good!). See the picture below that shows my favorite places to apply highlighter.
Step 4 – Eyes, Lips & Cheek
Monochromatic Makeup | I used the Bite Beauty Multistick for all three areas! This is the “Monochromatic” part of the look! It means one color use throughout the makeup look. Bite Beauty’s formula is meant for this as it is 35% powder. Check out the Blog Post I did for Prairie Style File that explains the monochromatic makeup trend and application methods/tips!
Step 5 – Setting Spray
I like to lock in all the powders with a setting spray – I love Wet N Wild’s Photo Focus Setting Spray (it’s $4.99 at the drugstore). I do this before I put on brows and mascara, because those products can turn sticky and we don’t want that! I use this after my workout to refresh my makeup, too. More about how I touch-up my makeup after the gym here!
Step 6 – Eyebrows
I used Benefit Cosmetics Ka-Brow & the brush that comes with it (which is surprisingly good) and set it with Benefit’s 24 hr Ready, Set, Brows Gel!
Step 7 – Mascara
I mentioned this in my Top 10 New at the Drugstore and I’m still loving it, Maybelline The Colossal Big Shot (warning: this may be holy grail status)!
